Sorrento has been a popular resort town since the 1700s. A charming, pretty coastal town, the kindness and hospitality of its inhabitants have been handed down from one generation to the next. It also exudes a romantic atmosphere with a rich culture and glorious colours, not least in the picturesque Marina Grande where fishing boats gently bob and the pastel waterfront houses have a faded charm.

Worth visiting:

Museo Correale di Terranova:
Housed in an attractive ancient villa, the town’s most important museum displays 17th-19th-century objets d’art, including china and ceramics, as well as works by Neapolitan and international artists.

Built in the Romanesque style of the 15th century, the duomo houses many famous 17th-century pictures from the Neapolitan School of Painting, as well as the archbishop's marble throne and the fine, inlaid-wood choir stalls.

Church and Cloister of St. Francesco:
This 8th-century monastery boasts enchanting cloisters, covered with vibrant bougainvillea, and both rounded and Arabic arches. During the summer season it plays host to musical concerts.
