Il Sentiero degli DeiKnown as The Path of the Gods, this route lives up to its name with dramatic views of a rugged coastline, and views as far as the island of Capri. Allow 2.15 h walking time. To start the walk, facing Bomerano church, take the narrow road (via Pannino) going left out of the square (piazza Paolo Capasso) marked by a faded red and white sign for Route 27. The road descends, passes under a road bridge and, after 200m, becomes concrete then stone steps. At the foot of the steps, turn right, cross a narrow footbridge and climb rough concrete steps up to a road. Turn left and follow the road for 500m (you will see a guard rail with a red sign on the left; you are on the right path!) to its end below Grotta Biscotto, which is a cave containing some medieval animal pens. A mule track (you'll find a tap on the left) now takes you on the level with dramatic views for 1km to Colle la Serra a junction of wide tracks by a crucifix on the garden wall of a whitehouse. Leave this house behind you and pick up red/white (or red only) lines waymarks following the narrow path that ascends straight ahead. Then it bends up left away from an abandoned building. Here you are at colle Serra. Leaving Colle Serra you can choose between two routes of the same length(1,5km): | |

Higher option (the best way): go on the right (follow the red and white markings). The path soon levels off among terraces. The waymarks are your guide for the next two hours as you make way across a wild mountainside, either on the level or with a gently descending tendency, always with the slope up to your right. The red/white markings are quite frequent so, if you have not seen one for about 50m, retrace your steps to where you last saw one. Lower option: from the saddle go down to the junction with the muletrack coming from Praiano (there is a fountain on the left), turn right and walk level and then downhill till you reach a fork (520m). The path on the left goes down to Praiano via Convento di San Domenico, the one on the right goes to Nocella. Be alert when passing through bushes. Eventually you enter Nocelle on a level path by houses. The path turns left down to a shrine and water tap in the centre of the village. From Nocelle (just in front of the tap next to the cave with the Madonnina) almost 2000 steps go down to Positano (30 minutes by walk) 400m before the village. For a good lunch stop we suggest Trattoria Santa Croce. Continue on the level path and out of the village on a level path overlooking a ravine. This leads to a motor road and beyond down to Monte Pertuso (for lunch La Tagliata restaurant). From here you can take the bus going to Positano (you find the bus stops each 50 m). In Monte Peruso enter the piazza on the mountain side of the road. From the far left corner, take the alley going half left. After 250m of gentle ascent, go left down steps, cross the road, and continue down, turning right after just 10m. Broad steps now take you down to the first houses in Positano and a T-junction. Turn left for 100m to a footbridge. Cross this and descend to the main road. Go left for 20m for the steps down to the centre of Positano. Departure: Bomerano (633 mtrs.) – piazza Paolo Capasso. Alternative gates: from Praiano con innesto a Colle Serra Arrival: Nocelle (430 mtrs.) Excursion walking time: 2.15 h untill to Nocelle Total distance: 8400 mtrs Difference of level: 50 mtrs up; 253 mtrs down. Maximum height: 635 mtrs Minimum height: 430 mtrs Best period: whole year, in summer avoid the hottest hours.
